Gartner Ranks Blue Coat as 2nd in Worldwide Market Share for WAN Optimization

Research firm Gartner has positioned Blue Coat as second in worldwide market share for WAN optimization controllers during the third calendar quarter of 2007.

According to the Gartner report, “Market Share: Application Acceleration Equipment, Worldwide, 3Q07,” in addition to ranking second in market share, Blue Coat was also the fastest growing vendor in the quarter, with a growth rate of 55 percent in worldwide WAN Optimization Controller solution based product revenue.

“Our comprehensive and uniquely differentiated approach to WAN optimization with security and control is clearly resonating with enterprises and large organizations,” said Bethany Mayer, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Blue Coat Systems.

“WAN optimization is no longer about simply accelerating files. Enterprises and organizations need to manage and distribute company video and accelerate business-critical applications, even those using SSL encryption, while stopping malware and mitigating the effects of non-business critical applications.”
