Floods in Central Java and East Java of Indonesia have destroyed internet access in some areas.
Kasmadi, ICT Coordinator in Central Java said that big floods have destroyed areas in Central Java, such as wonogiri, Sukoharjo, Solo, Karanganyar, and Sragen, destroying 24 homes and claiming the lives of 65 people.
"… in Wonogiri and Karanganyar, internet access is off," Kasmadi told SDA Asia this morning.
The ICT Center --which is developed by the National Education Network, Central Java's Government, and Wireless LAN Internet Indonesia Association (IndoWLI)—is helping the victims in Central Java, coordinating its rescue mission between the teams via the Internet, 3G, and cellular networks.
According to Barata Wardhana, Activist and Advisor from IndoWLI and Airputih Foundation, the Indosat Mega Media (IM2) will send their VSAT car to Ngawi, Central Java, and other cellular operators will also send aid. Tower, wireless radio 2,4 GHz, and antenna, will also switch on soon, he added.
"Hopefully ICT can be useful, so that information and data can be accessed easily," added Barata. |
