Lenovo has announced that it will launch the Lenovo IdeaPad U110 notebook PC in India by the second week of May. The laptop was showcased at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas earlier this year.

Sporting an 11-inch wide screen and weighing less than 2.3 pounds, this notebook PC caters to the highly mobile users, claimed the company. With the VeriFace and Face Recognition technology embedded into the notebook, users can quickly and easily log-in without having to remember passwords. The inbuilt Dolby Home Theatre and the MultiMedia Control Center aim to provide better sound quality and multimedia control.

IdeaPad U110 notebook comes with an 120GB hard drive, 2GB RAM, Intel's GMA X3100 integrated graphics chipset, Ethernet and Wi-Fi support, Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6 GHz processor and Windows Vista Home Premium. Lenovo claims that the laptop's standard four-cell battery will run it for about 2 hours, while the 7-cell battery (included) will add another 6 hours to the laptop's life.

This laptop also comes equipped with Active Protection System, which is an air bag-like device that helps the drive to guard data if the laptop happens to fall. Available in Red and Black the notebook is priced at Rs 80,000.
